Off to the Library!

PAPILLION-On Friday January 25th, the National History Day club members went out on a whole day outing to the Omaha Public Library in order to do research for their various topics for a competition in March where they will be going against various schools hoping to win the 1st place trophy. While at the library, the students were able to find stacks of information from books to microfilm. Microfilm is basically a copy of a newspaper or any other document onto a thin piece of film that almost resembles a negative of photo film. The team had a great time, and afterwards went to Old Chicago’s for lunch at around 1PM.

Overall, the team got a lot of researching done, and Danielle Airola had this to say about the experience, “Putting the projects together and doing research is a lot of fun, but we still have a long way to go before we’re ready to compete.”

WRITER’S CLUB

Writer’s Welcome

By: Mary Foshee, Papillion Jr. High

PAPILLION – Writer’s Club is a club open to both 7th and 8th graders who love to write.  This club goes on every other Wednesday from 3:20 – 4:00 in Ms. Seibold’s room.  This club gives students a chance to share written or drawn work with other students.  It is also to be random.  We’re also going to be publishing a magazine in March.  All you have to do is write something, share at Writer’s Club, and it could end up in a magazine or something.  Danielle Airola (a member of this club) says, “Writer’s Club is awesome!!!”
