Inclusion

Another school year is upon us! We all look forward to working with you this school year. We want to do our best for all the children we work with. Good communication with parents is important so that a partnership can be formed between parents, teachers and your child. Here are a few suggestions that might help open those doors for better communication between us!

Developing Positive Working Relationships

Form a partnership with your child's teachers!

1. Help teachers understand your child's disability and how it affects his/her learning. Give the teacher time and space to get to know your child.

2. Provide historical & medical information so that all working with your child are informed.

4. Help teachers identify your child's interests, strengths, abilities and needs.

5. Get involved in developing your child's IEP.

6. Let teacher's know that you need their help.

7. Talk about your concerns with the teachers.

8. Ask questions!

9. Listen carefully to teacher's suggestions and concerns. Ask questions and give your input.

10. Encourage teachers to contact you regularly. Set up a regular method of communication if possible.

11. Understand your rights and responsibilities.
