The Mission of the Rumsey Station Media Center is:

To support and further the mission and beliefs formulated by the school district.
The philosophy of the Informational Services in the Papillion LaVista School District to facilitate and enrich the integration of information and instruction.

Rumsey Station wishes to ensure that every child has the opportunity to explore his/her world through a variety of books and resources. We strive to help all students become independent users of information. The role of the library media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. The library media program supports the curriculum by providing adequate resources, personnel and training so that both students and teachers become independent users of information.

Would you like to celebrate your child's birthday in a very special way? Buy a birthday book by making a donation of at least $5.00.

The collection at Rumsey station is approximately 12,000 volumes

  • Some resources are now available on CDROM. We have the SIRS Discoverer database. Many of our resources are directly related to the curriculum.
  • We do not charge fines for overdue books. However, if a student loses or severely damages a book, he will be required to pay the price of the book. The student will not be allowed to check out additional books until the lost or damaged book is paid for. If a student pays for a lost book and then finds it, he should return it to the library for a refund.
  • The Rumsey Station Library Media Center is open 8:00-3:05 p.m.
  • Kindergarten and first may check out one book. Second through sixth graders may check out two books. Books may be renewed for a longer period of time on the due date.
  • Students are responsible for all borrowed media. If books are damaged or lost, students will have to pay for a replacement.
