Mr. Kellen Czaplewski, Principal

Welcome to Trumble Park Elementary School!  GROWTH has been the theme during our 42 years in existence!  Papillion has grown, as well as the neighborhood that makes up the enrollment at Trumble Park.  Enrollment was 250 when the school opened in 1960, and today enrollment stands at 405.  After an all-time high enrollment of 525 in 1994, the opening of Rumsey Station Elementary eased our overcrowded situation.

Not only the student population, but also the physical building has grown in many ways.  The 1984-85 building addition provided staff and students a new gymnasium/lunchroom, library, kindergarten and first grade rooms.  Programs, such as the Student Development Center that served many district students with special needs, were initiated here at Trumble Park.  This program grew to the point it had to be moved to a new site.  Further improvements were brought about with the renovation & remodeling project begun in March 2000, and completed in July 2001.  Four new classrooms, a full size gymnasium, new vocal and instrumental music rooms, a computer lab, and an art/science room were added.  Improvements such as new carpet, marker boards, a central clock system, and improved lighting were included which provided a much-needed facelift to many of our original classrooms.

Besides the growth of the student population and the physical building, one of the largest growth areas for our school over the last few years has been the incorporation of technology. We now possess at least one Macintosh and Gateway computer in each classroom, along with a color printer for the students’ use.  We have a twenty-six-station computer lab adjacent to our Media Center and laptops for a portable lab.  Our students use such network programs as Type to Learn 3, Wiggleworks Reading Program, Inspiration and Kidspiration (graphic organizer programs) to practice various technological skills that also compliment the classroom curriculum.  Internet access is supplied in each classroom.  Additionally, the students have access to many print and electronic research tools in the library, including access to the  “SIRS Discoverer” database of full-text newspaper and magazine articles as well as World Book Online.  These high-tech additions have helped to improve the opportunity for the implementation of technological instruction.  With the continued use of technology, our hope and goal will be to lead our students into their future with many new and creative educational experiences.

We can only guess what new areas of growth are in store for Trumble Park Elementary in the future.  One thing we know for sure is that staff and community will continue to work together to provide all of our children the education to grow academically and socially.  Sharing the responsibility of educating our children will ensure consistent travel “ON THE ROAD TO SUCCESS.”
